Chris Gunter excited by Giggs' leadership
The Wales defender said that the China Cup served as an excellent team-bonding experience and the squad got know newly appointed manager Ryan Giggs.
Despite ending as runners-up in the tournament, Gunter is insistent that Wales have an exciting future ahead of them with new coach Giggs at the helm. Wales were defeated by Uruguay 1-0 in the final, after thrashing hosts China in a 6-0 victory.
Gunter said of Giggs: ''We've got a clearer idea of what the manager wants and that will only build.'' Echoing comments made earlier by team-mate Gareth Bale.
He added: ''The week we've had from the two games, we've gained a lot of information and we go home with a real optimism now. We've got a game in the summer [against Mexico] and then the real business of the competitive games to come. There will be a big buzz around the squad when those games come around.''
After the international break, the 28-year-old will return to his club Reading, under a new manager. Gunter said: ''Another new manager, two in two weeks - but that's football and the way it goes. But we've got a new manager and I've heard some very good things from people around the Wales squad, who have obviously worked with him. We've got a big end of the season and we need to get some results.''
