Thomas Ince: Ryan Giggs is the real guv'nor not my dad Paul

THOMAS INCE has revealed the real 'Guvnor' is not his dad Paul — but former family lodger Ryan Giggs.

Thomas' famous father was the self-proclaimed Guvnor in the 1990s.

But Ince Jnr, a winger at at Blackpool, said: "Ryan Giggs lived with us for six months when my dad was at United, so I've always based my game around him.

"Ever since I was a kid, I've watched him on TV. He's still playing now at 37 — and he's still one of the main men."

Thomas, 19, signed a two-year deal with Blackpool after making a summer switch from Liverpool and is keen to light up the football world like his dad.

Ince, who has represented England at Under-17 and Under-19 level, was just 16 months old when his old man lifted his first Premier League trophy with Manchester United.

He added: "He's reached the top level and done a lot of things in football. If I get half of that, then I'll be happy.

"But I'll always aim to be as good as him or even better.

"I can learn from him because he can tell me where I can improve — as well as the gaffer, Ian Holloway.

"I had many unbelievable experiences and good memories from my dad playing and that's something I strive to achieve."

The teenager showed Giggsy's skills when he came off the bench on Tuesday to score two stunning goals and seal a 2-1 victory against Doncaster.

He now hopes that display will earn him a starting place in today's home game against Nottingham Forest.

Jet-heeled Ince often puts in extra shifts at Blackpool's Squires Gate training ground in a bid to improve and impress.

He explained: "The gaffer has said to the younger lads that there are certain things that we need to work on.

"I want to get my right foot better and work on my heading.

"You have to show the gaffer that you're working hard and understanding the way he wants to play football."
