Ryan Giggs serves up a surprise at the Mustard Tree

Ryan Giggs visited the Mustard Tree in Manchester yesterday to serve lunch for local people in need.

The visit comes on the back of his company GG Events & Catering’s (a subsidiary of hospitality management company GG Hospitality which Ryan co owns with Gary Neville) collaboration with social enterprise Foodinate, which teams restaurants and companies with local centres dedicated to transforming the lives of those in poverty.

The initiative will provide meals for local people in need, with the Mustard Tree directly benefiting from GG Events & Catering bookings. The Class of 92 star took time to chat to service users and the team during a tour of the new building, before heading into the kitchen to serve up lunch to guests and visitors.

Ryan, who has previously worked with Foodinate through his Worsley restaurant George’s, spoke of the issues facing Manchester at the moment; “People living, working and visiting Manchester can see the problem and they want to do something about it. It’s great that through this partnership, we can actually make a difference for local people in need”.

Rachael Crosby, operations manager for GG Events & Catering, speaking about the new initiative with Foodinate said; “With every person attending an event with GG Events & Catering, a hot meal can be served to a person in need at the Mustard Tree. Since the partnership with Foodinate went live two months ago, we have already contracted over 2,000 covers through events booked at Hotel Football, National Football Museum and Salford City FC, which means 2,000 meals will be provided to the centre.

“People can get involved simply by booking an event with GG Events & Catering. Foodinate is included as standard, so clients will automatically be making a difference, at no extra cost to them.”
