Ryan Giggs pictured with United fan Kevin Ashford 20 years apart
No 1 fan: Kevin Ashford (right) paid a visit to United's training ground, The Cliff, to see Ryan Giggs 20 years ago
A Manchester United fan has scored an internet hit with pictures of him snapped alongside Old Trafford legend Ryan Giggs 20 years apart.
Giggs has aged a little, the VW has been replaced by a flash Range Rover and the schoolboy grinning alongside him is now a 30-year-old dad with his own son.
Then and now: A 30-year-old Ashford, with son Georgie, was delighted to go to Carrington to see Giggs again
But one thing remains constant - Giggs, 39, is still going strong at Manchester United.
Kevin Ashford, from Levenshulme, had the first picture taken by his dad at The Cliff in 1993.
Two decades later, Kevin caught up with Giggs again when he took his son, Georgie - named after United great George Best - to watch United train.
Since Kevin published the picture on Twitter it has been 'retweeted' more than 1,300 times, with even fans of rival clubs saying it proves the incredible contribution Giggs has made to United.
Kevin, then a St Mary's Primary School pupil and now a delivery driver and Old Trafford steward, said: 'When I was a kid my dad used to let me have one day off school and take me to the training ground.
'I can remember it being really open and you'd brush past people like Peter Schmeichel and Eric Cantona.
Still going strong: Ryan Giggs is still playing for Manchester United aged 39
'My dad took the picture of me and Giggsy and there were no digital cameras back then and I can remember the nervous wait to see if it would develop.
'It's a bit different now. But Giggsy spotted us on his way out and drove over so we had the picture taken.
'What he's done is unbelievable and I think the pictures show that. I've grown up, got married and have a son of my own and he is still playing - although he drives a nicer car these days.'
Kevin says he has been stunned by the response on Twitter.
He said: 'I think it reflects what he has achieved which is something I don't think we will ever see the likes of again.'
