Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville play a Peaky Blinder with set visit
Pair visit the BBC2 period crime caper as it is filming its fourth series in Manchester's newly-rennovated Victoria Public Baths
Former Manchester United footballers Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have paid a visit to the set of BBC2 crime drama Peaky Blinders – and made their former teammate David Beckham very jealous.
As our exclusive pictures reveal, the pair were guests of creator and writer Steven Knight (main picture) during filming in the renovated Victoria Public Baths in Manchester.
And as you can see they look like proper fanboys when they also met and chatted with actor Paul Anderson who plays Arthur Shelby (below).
In fact, when Sky Sports pundit Neville posted this picture to Instagram up popped a comment from Beckham who said: “So Jealous.”
So it seems that the former England captain is also a fan of the show whose other famous admirers include Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Snoop Dogg, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Julia Roberts and Ed Sheeran.
The next series of the drama welcomes Oscar winner Adrien Brody to the dark world of fictional Birmingham criminals alongside Born to Kill star Jack Rowan who is also joining the cast.
They join lead man Cillian Murphy who returns as gang leader Tommy Shelby with Taboo star Tom Hardy reprising his role as Jewish gang leader Alfie Solomons.
Other returning cast members including Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Joe Cole, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Kate Phillips.
The new season’s action kicks off with a mysterious letter, delivered to Thomas Shelby on Christmas Eve which warns him that his beloved Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation.
“As the enemy closes in, Shelby flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham, where a desperate fight for survival begins”, the official synopsis reads.
“It’s fantastic to have Adrien join our team. He genuinely was the actor in my head when I wrote the part. I’m sure he will be a formidable presence in the world of the Peaky Blinders”, creator Steven Knight has said.
“Adrien Brody is a world-class actor famous for producing mesmerising performances,” Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, added. “I cannot wait to see him in action alongside the rest of Peaky Blinders' superb cast, bringing Steven Knight's extraordinary writing to life on BBC2.”
The fourth series will be directed by David Caffrey (Line Of Duty) and will be produced by Joe Donaldson (Ripper Street).
Peaky Blinders series 4 is currently filming and will air later this year
