Ospreys Wing Walker Takes Ryan Giggs-Esque Approach To Hamstring Recovery
Ospreys’ Eli Walker is to take a rather imaginative, albeit an increasingly popular, approach to his hamstring recovery.
Walker has been tormented by problems in that area for much of his career and has now taken up what appears to be a growing phenomenon amongst professional sports people.
The Wales international has taken a leaf out of Ryan Giggs’ book in order to improve his flexibility and general strength.
Speaking to the BBC, he said:
“What’s working for me in particular is yoga.“I know it sounds quite strange, but yoga’s helping me a lot in just stretching and strengthening in general.”Walker adds: “As I mature I’ve just got to take the onus on myself and look after my body better, just doing stuff that’s right for me.”
Yoga was something Manchester United legend and follow Welshman Ryan Giggs put down to the longevity of his playing career and it seems to be working for Walker now as he aims to put his hamstring issues behind him.
The BBC say Walker is fit to play as soon as this weekend against Clermont in the Champions Cup. The Swansea side will look to build on their round one win over Exeter Chiefs at the Liberty Stadium with victory in France.
