Giggs is a huge hit at Tiger Street Football final on Koh Pich

Wales coach and ex Manchester United star Ryan Giggs landed in Phnom Penh late on Friday night and spent much of the weekend as a guest of rare honour and brand ambassador at the two-day final of the 6th Tiger Street Football Festival on Koh Pich.

“I am happy to come to Cambodia for the second time. It is a great chance to visit one of the ASEAN countries. I hope to see some Cambodian players with potential in the final,” Giggs said.

Having enjoyed the traditional welcome he received, Giggs was equally delighted to see adoring fans around him on Koh Pich during the grand final.

Later at a news conference, Giggs said he was deeply moved by the reception he had from fans and also their passion for the game. He said he would encourage his former United teammates to visit the Kingdom.

The former United captain and most capped player in the history of the club said that the three most important virtues to make a good player were hard work, respect for the rules and a love for the game.

“Passion and love for football is vital. Without them you cannot succeed,” he said.

Giggs’s status in the world of football and the huge respect he commands for his achievements in the game made his presence at the futsal Tiger Street Football Festival 2018 finale over the weekend a truly memorable occasion for all the fans in attendance.
