Distin looks to Giggs for inspiration
Everton centre-back Sylvain Distin revealed he has taken inspiration from Ryan Giggs' longevity as he looks to complete an ever-present season for the Toffees.
The Frenchman and fellow defender Leighton Baines have both started every Everton game so far this season, with Distin looking to match the 2008/09 campaign where he played in all of Portsmouth's competitive games.
And it is 37-year-old Manchester United winger Giggs that Distin particularly looks up to, with the 33-year-old telling evertontv: "There are some great examples around of players extending their careers and Ryan Giggs is definitely one.
"There isn't even any point in talking about him - you just need to look at the stats. They are amazing and speak for themselves.
"Maybe two or three times in my career I have gone through the season and played in every game but I am getting to an age when I am probably a bit more proud of that fact. I am happy and I feel good.
"You have to do whatever you can to slow down the effects of time and my answer has always been to do that bit extra so I always stay behind after training and do more. It has always worked for me so I keep doing it. For me it is about what you put in."
