Ryan seeks better fortune
Ryan Giggs says United are fully intent on bringing an end to the Reds' winless run at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men are without a victory in the league there since April 2002, while three of the last five visits have ended in defeat for United.
Chelsea, though, have been struggling for form of late, with just one win from their last six games. United, on the other hand, are currently leading the way in the Barclays Premier League following Monday's crucial win over Arsenal, and Giggs says the Reds are determined to strengthen that grip on top spot.
"It doesn't get any bigger than a trip to Chelsea," the midfielder told ManUtd.com. "Hopefully we can change the record we've had there for the last few years because we haven't won for a few years.
"Everyone's been buzzing since Monday. It was a great performance and a great win against Arsenal. Hopefully we can kick on now during what is always a difficult part of the season because there are so many games in such a short space of time.
"We've seen over the last few years what a tough place Stamford Bridge is to go to and we'll need to be at our best, just as we were on Monday. We know a win on Sunday would put us in a great position."
After a somewhat mixed start to the campaign the Reds are returning to form, and Giggs wants to take that into the New Year.
"I don't know why we seem to come good around this time," he said. "I think the international breaks disrupted the season early on in the campaign, but when we know we need to win and need to perform we seem to produce the goods.
"The experience the manager has of getting players ready for the business end of the season is a big part of it all and it's something he's very good at."
