Ryan rejects 'decisive' talk

Ryan Giggs believes the top-turvy nature of the league season so far has lessened the potential impact of this week’s top-of-the-table encounters.

In years gone by, a December double-header against rivals Arsenal and Chelsea could have defined United’s season.
 
But with the leaders and the chasing pack all dropping more points than usual this term, Giggs says the next seven days will not be decisive for the Reds, no matter what the results against the London sides.
 
"It is probably true to say these games don't matter quite so much because other teams are dropping so many points," said the veteran winger. "We face Chelsea and Arsenal in the last three or four games this season, so maybe those games will [matter more].
 
"It has been a strange season – even at home we have struggled against teams we should be beating and normally do. But it is not just us – it is the other teams as well."
 
Arsenal boast the best away record in the league and Giggs expects the Gunners to bring their usual attractive brand of football to Old Trafford tonight.
 
"Arsenal are a talented side,” he continued. “They won't be afraid to come to Old Trafford and knock the ball around and play their normal game. We will need to be at our best if we are going to win.
 
"Their away form has been very good so we will have to be wary of that. They have dropped silly points like everyone else, but they are top of the league so they must be doing something right."
 
Giggs reached yet another milestone in a phenomenal career when he made his 850th United appearance against Valencia last Tuesday, when he also surpassed Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher’s record of 136 European games by an English player.
 
"I am proud to have played so many times," Giggs added. "I didn't realise until after the game but to play 850 games for Manchester United, as a United fan, is brilliant. It is something I am really proud of."
