Ryan Giggs is still a world-class footballer

He might be approaching his 40th birthday, but Manchester United star Ryan Giggs can still mix it with the very best.

Where do you start with this unbelievable player? Dare we even call him a man anymore?

What an achievement: 39 years old and still running as if it was his debut.

Giggs played for Manchester United against Reading last Saturday and, although it was a poor game overall, the Welshman never ceases to amaze.

He should be a role model to all the 30-somethings out there, because this man can still run the length of a football pitch, take corners, score goals, set up goals and even put in a tackle or two.

As his years in football continue to tally up, he certainly hasn't lost any of the passion or flair he had as a youngster.

It doesn't surprise me that he has an OBE, or that he holds the Manchester United club record for the most amount of appearances, or even that he was named Sports Personality of the Year in 2009.

He was named in the PFA Team of the Century in 2007 and holds the record for highest number of assists in the Premier League history, with more than 270 to his name.

The fact that he has played and scored in every season of the Premier League is not the most mind blowing thing. Rather, the fact that when several top class players are asked who they would like to play alongside they mention world-class talents such as Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi but rarely Giggs.

Surely it would be an honour for any player, from the best clubs in Europe to unpaid amateurs, to play with the former Wales international.

Giggs is a name that, in my opinion, isn't mentioned enough in the 'world-class' bracket.

Established as a left winger with over 930 appearances and 168 goals, Giggs could still give Ronaldo and Gareth Bale a run for their money.
