Ryan Giggs reserves special praise for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Ryan Giggs has praised Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the forward once again got Arsenal out of trouble with a 'brilliant' equaliser in the side's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The two fallen Premier League giants played out a first half lacking in any real quality until Scott McTominay opened the scoring at Old Trafford with a deflected strike from long-range.
Arsenal grew in confidence after the break and Bukayo Saka capitalised on a wayward pass from Axel Tuanzebe to set up Aubameyang's equaliser.
The Gabon striker effortlessly dinked the ball over David de Gea and Kevin Friend awarded the goal after consulting with the video assistant referee.
'It's a good pass from the young lad, Saka, right into his path and it's a fantastic finish with his left foot,' United legend Giggs told Optus Sport following the draw. 'A little dink, that's a goalscorer's finish. 'He doesn't panic, he's calm and it's against David de Gea who is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world. It was a brilliant finish.
'I've seen David in that position. If it goes low then he's got his feet closed and he's got that reaction and big reach where he does save it. 'But it's not easy to save that.'
Giggs believes Arsenal may have missed a big opportunity to win at Old Trafford for the first time since 2006. 'You can see why Arsenal have got that record of not winning away from home against the top six,' the Wales manager added. 'My feeling is that was a good chance for Arsenal to put that record to bed.
'Once you've done that, you get rid of people talking about it so it's that risk reward. 'When [Dani] Ceballos came on it was a big difference but also they probably weren't as solid defensively. 'But going forward, if you're a front man, and you're seeing him just behind you you know you are going to get control of the game a little bit better and more chances created.'
