Ryan Giggs isn't slowing down as he nears 40th birthday

A month away from his 40th birthday, there are no signs of life slowing down for Ryan Giggs.
 
He’s still playing for Manchester United, he now has a job on the coaching staff and, as a check of the watch reminds him: “I’ve got to pick the missus up – she’s been to Arctic Monkeys.”
 
Giggs’ performance in United’s Champions League victory against Real Sociedad last Wednesday showed his enduring enthusiasm and influence on the field.
 
But he is also re-energised by the new role and responsibility he has been given with manager David Moyes’ off-field team .
 
The Welshman said: “I’ve not found a problem bridging the gap between playing and coaching. I think you’re probably best asking the players!
 
“I hope they don’t look at me any differently. It’s not gone quiet when I go in the dressing room yet.
 
“I’ve tried to balance it as best I can. I try and help players just as I did before I was on the staff.
 
“I do enjoy the coaching side. I enjoy being in the meetings, seeing the preparation the manager does. He’s been brilliant with me and I’ve really enjoyed learning off a really good manager.
 
“There was no chance I could have thought I would still be playing now. But I’m enjoying it and hopefully, like I have done for the last couple of years, I’ll try to contribute as much as I can.”
 
Giggs admits United’s unconvincing start to the season has given cause for alarm, but he said: “Obviously there are concerns we haven’t had the results we should have. We haven’t quite been getting the rub of the green and winning matches that in the past we maybe would have won.
 
“Having a new manager has probably added to it, but we haven’t got off to a great start. The good thing is that there is plenty of time to turn it around.”
