Ryan Giggs hails "exciting" Marcus Rashford and Gabriel Jesus
In the latest Super 6 Class of ’92 diary, Ryan Giggs discusses Marcus Rashford's value, the Class of '92's return to action and his new role.
Remarkable Rashford
It will be interesting to see Marcus Rashford and Gabriel Jesus come up against each other at Wembley for England v Brazil. I think the word for these two players is exciting.
They're a bit different, Jesus has a better scoring record but Marcus likes to match up with defenders and try something, which is what makes him great to watch.
I've worked with Marcus and seen him at close hand and how much of a talent he is. However, it is his work rate and commitment which are really what makes him such a valuable asset for Manchester United.
You wouldn't swap him for any other young player right now. I've not seen Jesus in the same close-up environment but he's obviously shown from his performances he is a very talented player.
Foxes to upset the odds?
Going to Leicester will be another test for Manchester City. With the positive start they've had under Claude Puel I don't think it would be a huge surprise if Pep Guardiola's side dropped points.
It's always tricky after an international break, especially when you're away from home when you don't know how the squad is looking until a few days before the game.
However, bringing those midweek games forward to Tuesday really does make a difference. Coming back from an international round after playing on Wednesday was always a struggle.
Superior Spurs?
The north London derby always tends to be an entertaining affair, with a lot of goals and a lot of talented players, and I think it has been more interesting over recent years with the teams being evenly matched.
Form often goes out of the window with derbies but Arsenal have tended to dominate, so Tottenham are naturally relishing getting some revenge.
Spurs are the better team right now but to really have the upper hand they have to do it consistently over the new few years, although with the talented young squad they have I don't see why that won't be the case.
I still see Manchester United as the main title rivals for City this season, with Jose Mourinho's record being key, while he should have Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to come back when you really need those big-game players to make an impact.
Tottenham have also been impressive and I had thought they would struggle going for the title with the Wembley and playing in the Champions League but they've gotten over it really well, so I'd have them third in the mix.
Class of '92 & friends v Salford City
To be fair we were happy with the 4-4 draw on Sunday, although it was always going to be difficult for them when they'd played the day before, when we went seven points clear, so fortunately for us it was a bit of a mixed team.
We obviously had the experience but lacked the fitness, so as the game went on we had to make a few changes. We went 2-0 ahead then gave away a few bad goals and then there was a questionable penalty. I'll let people make their own minds up on that one when Mark Halsey's GoPro footage comes out.
Jamie Carragher got a bit of stick before and during the game, but for him to fly in from Thailand and even take it makes up the mistake he made for their first, which is also worth looking out for.
I'm usually okay after games, you just have to manage yourself through them at our age, but I literally couldn't walk on Monday morning after having my foot stamped on a couple of times.
I rung my old doctor, thinking I'd have to have an X-Ray, but he said it just the bruise swelling which made it feel like it was broken, so hopefully it is okay.
New role
I've not actually taken a new full-time job, despite what some people were reporting. I'm only going for three days at for the launch of Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talents FC's new academy, where me and Paul Scholes have agreed to go a couple of times a year to help establish a blueprint of Vietnamese grassroots football.
They've just built a brand new academy so I'm going out with Scholesy for three days of consultancy, with the potential for to link up with Salford in the future. We're building our academy and university so these links across the world will help. It is supposed to be an amazing facility.
