Ryan Giggs gives backing yo Manchester United Thiago Alcantara swoop

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has given his backing to a potential swoop for Barcelona schemer Thiago Alcantara.

The Red Devils are expected to make an official offer for Thiago next week, which may well hit the €18m release clause in the player’s contract.

Thiago shone brightly for Spain’s Under-21 side in this summer’s European Under-21 Championship, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-2 win over Italy in the final.

And Giggs would not be opposed to Thiago landing at Old Trafford, although he has refused to confirm an imminent bid.

"I’ve seen him in several matches. He is a good player", Giggs told Spanish daily Marca.

"But there is always a lot of speculation about United and good players", he continued. 

"We will have to see where he ends up, but he is a great talent."
