Ryan Giggs: Boss job is rollercoaster ride

Ryan Giggs will take charge of his final game as Manchester United interim manager this weekend as the Reds look to sign off this season in style away at Southampton.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, the Welshman, who took temporary charge of the Reds on 22 April, has enjoyed a rollercoaster ride in his brief spell as boss but it's a journey he admits he has enjoyed immensely.

"It sort of goes in waves where one minute you are enjoying it and one minute you are not,” Giggs joked. "But ultimately it gives you a lot of satisfaction when everything goes right."

"After the game last Saturday (against Sunderland) you probably think you could do without it, but you probably learn more from defeat and not doing so well just like when you are a player," he added. "I have enjoyed the whole experience and it has definitely helped me prepare for what will come after my playing career."

With United now playing for the slim possibility of securing a place in next season's Europa League - the Reds require victory at St Mary's, while Tottenham Hotspur must lose at home to Aston Villa - Giggs did concede that his time as interim manager has been helped by a relative lack of pressure thrust upon him. However, the boss is keen for United to finish as high in the league as possible.

"There is not really a lot of pressure on me at the moment because it is just four games and we can't really win anything," Ryan commented. "However, we can qualify for the Europa League and we will carry on trying to do that."
