Moyes marvels at 'amazing' Giggs

David Moyes heaped praise on the longevity of Ryan Giggs after his performance in the 1-0 League Cup victory over Liverpool.

The 39-year-old played the entire 90 minutes in the midweek fixture at Old Trafford, which was decided by Javier Hernandez's second-half strike. Moyes paid tribute to Giggs' performance, and was impressed with the way the Welshman maintained his high standards for the duration of the game.

"I thought Ryan played really well," he said.

"I've been saying since I've been here I'm amazed how good a player he is, I really am.

"Even tonight you wouldn't have said in any way that he was struggling with the 90 minutes come the end.

"I thought he was great. He might be struggling for the next three weeks now but I've got to say he's incredibly fit and he did well tonight."

The Scot also believes United has yet to get the best out of Shinji Kagawa this season. He puts that down to a lack of match practice, and admitted he is looking for the Japan international to have a bigger influence on games.

"He did okay. I thought he grew into the game a little bit more. There were bits which I was pleased with, and there were bits where we were looking for a little bit more," Moyes added.

"Overall he's still getting back and that's why a lot's been said but I think most people who watch would say he's still short of really full match fitness and practice."
