Giggs focused on games

Ryan Giggs has shrugged off his latest record, insisting Manchester United's Treble chase is dominating his thoughts.

The Welsh winger passed another milestone on Tuesday, becoming the oldest outfield player to turn out for United in European competition - overtaking Laurent Blanc.

He picked up that record in a UEFA Champions League clash with Chelsea, in which he played a leading role.

Over the course of a crucial two-legged quarter-final tie, Giggs had a hand in all three of the goals which took the Red Devils through.

At 37 years of age that is no mean feat, with it remarkable how the veteran playmaker continues to maintain impeccably high standards.

Not concerning himself with events off the field may be key to his ongoing success, with records something he will take greater pride in once he hangs up his boots.

For now, with the Chelsea game already consigned to the memory banks, Giggs is setting his sets on what promises to be an epic FA Cup semi-final showdown with arch-rivals Manchester City on Saturday.

"I wasn't aware of this latest one," said Giggs when informed that he had broken yet another record. "It will soon be forgotten.

"I am just pleased to be involved in performances like this one. The quarter-finals of the Champions League - you want to play in these games. And when you finish, these are the games that you are going to miss."

Giggs could be forgiven for showing signs of tiredness as United continue with their pursuit of multiple trophies, but he claims it is the desire to be the best which continues to drive him on.

"It is what you want at this stage of the season - big game after big game," he said.

"You don't get many bigger than the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley against City.

"We will be up for that and we can't wait."
