Giggs calls for swift resolution to Manchester United takeover

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed Sheikh Jassim to buy the club, saying that he is the only bidder who is willing to make a "significant investment" in the team.

Giggs, who played for United for 24 years, told the Manchester United fan channel Webby & O'Neill that he wants the takeover to be resolved as soon as possible, so that the team can focus on winning games and trophies.

"I think like anyone, all the other fans, we just want it resolved," Giggs said. "If there is a takeover, let's get it done. I know there's billions of pounds [involved] but let's just get it done."

Giggs said that he believes Sheikh Jassim is the only bidder who is willing to put the money into the club that it needs.

"It is the one that is going to make a difference and put in significant investment," Giggs said. "I don't know who that would be but it looks like Sheikh Jassim is going to put the most money in and own it 100 per cent."

Giggs' comments come as the two competing bidders for United, Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are locked in a bidding war. The Glazer family, who have owned United since 2005, have said that they are willing to sell the club for £6.8 billion.

It is unclear when the takeover will be finalized, but Giggs' comments suggest that he is hoping for a swift resolution.
