Ryan Giggs has warned Blackpool that Wayne Rooney is ready to rock.

RYAN GIGGS has warned Blackpool that goal-shy striker Wayne Rooney is ready to rock.

Manchester United's England ace has still scored just ONCE from open play - three in total - for his club this season, with just two games left in January.

It is a paltry return compared to the 34 he notched up in total last year. But Giggs insists nobody at Old Trafford is worried.

And ahead of the re-arranged game against the Seasiders, the Welsh golden oldie reckons it is only a matter of time before the floodgates open again.

Giggs said: "As a goalscorer you want to be getting goals but his overall play has been good - his cross for my goal against Birmingham was brilliant.

"As long as the team is doing well, that's the main thing. And we know that sooner or later Wayne will start scoring."

Defender John O'Shea added: "Wayne will soon be back on the goal trail because of his quality. I'm sure the chances like the one he missed towards the back post against Birmingham will be flying in in no time."

Rooney's dry spell has not been a problem for United due to the electric form of Dimitar Berbatov, who now has 18 for the season.

And Giggs, 37, said: "Berba deserves all the praise he's getting. His overall play was brilliant as well as his goals."

United are still unbeaten in the league this term and maintain hopes of emulating Arsenal's 2004 'Invincibles'. Giggs added: "For us to go unbeaten so far is a great achievement - it shows a lot of character."

The winger has made more than 850 United appearances but a Bloomfield Road clash will be different.

He said: "It'll be a tight, compact ground and it'll be loud. Man United are coming to town, so everyone will be up for it."
