Giggs lauds forwards

Ryan Giggs praised Manchester United's attacking impetus following the club's impressive 5-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday evening.

The Reds midfielder, who turns 40 on Friday, was as instrumental as ever, controlling proceedings from the middle of the park. However, in his typically modest manner, Ryan chose to laud the attacking quartet of Wayne Rooney, Shinji Kagawa, Antonio Valencia and Nani.

"It was a pleasure to play behind that front four," Giggs enthused. "It really clicked and we could have scored more goals, but we mustn't be too greedy. To score five goals anywhere in Europe has got to be be classed as a good result.

"Antonio Valencia in particular has been in excellent form all season. I don't think it would have mattered who had been marking him tonight - when he’s in that type of form he's a nightmare for anyone."

Giggs believed the key to United's emphatic win was the high tempo maintained by the players throughout the proceedings, particularly when attacking on the break.

"Our speed was key, we really killed Leverkusen on the counter attack," Giggs said. "The first goal was a prime example of that - really quick play. It was a real pleasure to play the game."
